Gosbook.ru: Ban on Civil Society
Bureaucrats Now Have a Social Network of Their Own in Russia.
The Freedom Russia Organization continued informal discussions with officials of Russia, but once again associates of our organization received a waiver on it's proposal.
Not long ago, supporters of our organization registed on government site "Gosbuk" and attempted to create a community where "Civil Society" dedicated to the development of democratic institutions and civil society in Russia. To the surprise - the community was established, and, naturally, there was an opportunity to our activists were there to write about the problems of modern Russia: Restrictions on media freedom, freedom of speech, limit political rights, limitation in the choice of political development, control of information and justice of our citizens.
Community does not exist for three days! First, our community has been blocked under the pretext of checking moderator, and then removed altogether without explanation of reasons. As a result, neither we or the supporters could not get into our community.
The next day, our activists have received a letter from the administration of the site that our community has been rejected.
In fact, it says only one thing - that neither the authorities nor individual officials are not even ready for dialogue on the theme of civil society in Russia. Authorities did not give to individuals to raise such issues in the Internet because they fear that people begin to think about.
The Freedom Russia Organization would continue its struggle with the sovereign system, which does not conceive for the fundamental element for the free and democratic Russia - CIVIL SOCIETY!
